Here’s the surprising answer…
While it’s TRUE that without cholesterol we wouldn’t have heart disease…
It would also mean we’d be dead.
Our bodies produce it for a reason.
Do not take conventional wisdom as gospel… and in this case, the notion that “the lower your cholesterol the better” is a complete LIE.
In fact, 75% of people that drop from heart disease report “normal” cholesterol levels.
Cholesterol is the building block for neurons, cell membranes, it synthesizes vitamin D, and is crucial for making many of our body’s hormones, especially testosterone.
Our bodies produce cholesterol, but it is simply not enough.
You need to include it in your diet.
But WHAT you eat will determine if your cholesterol will turn into your life force… or give you a stroke!
You see, there is a balance between two types of cholesterol:
LDL and HDL.
If you eat like shit, pigging out on highly processed foods which contain trans/hydrogenised fats and refined sugars… you throw your cholesterol balance off.
You’ll skyrocket your LDL and tank your HDL.
You want to eat foods that raise both, preferably more HDL, because high LDL without enough HDL is usually what causes problems and not the other way around.
Think red meats, eggs, avocados, extra virgin olive oil, butter, and shellfish.
For red meats and eggs, get 'em’ pasture raised if possible.
I’ll say it again, your body CANNOT make testosterone without cholesterol.
Unless you have a medical condition, I suggest having higher than average total cholesterol levels while maintaining a good ratio of LDL to HDL cholesterol (less than 3:1).
For the sake of your virility, the strength of your muscles and bones, your sex drive, and your general quality of life.
To more testosterone!
